Get Smart with a Technicurean Kitchen

By Ryan Horvath

You’re asking yourself what a Technicurean kitchen is…better yet, what a Technicurean is. Technicureans are an emerging group of consumers. They’re as passionate about their cooking as they are with their technology. They love any latest technology that can perfect their meal but make their life easier. Think Julia Child with an iPad and you’re on the right path. We’ve come up with a couple of ideas to achieve a Technicurean kitchen.

Set It and Forget It

Our daily lives consist of moving from point A to point B. This leaves us little time to make meals, let alone enjoy them. One Technicurean kitchen trend is more of a throwback…the slow cooker. The slow cooker is stepping up its game by offering more that “low” and “high” settings. A 9 in 1 slow cooker has the ability to be a pressure cooker, rice cooker, and several other cookers all wrapped in to one. Plan and prepare your meal and set it. A meal will be waiting for you when you come home.

The set it and forget it motto doesn’t work with only food. Your morning cup of Joe can be ready and waiting for you when you wake up. Automated coffee makers are perfect for those late risers. Set everything up the night before and you’ll have a cup of coffee ready as you rush out the door.

Silicon Valley in Your Kitchen

Much like our phones, our appliances are getting smart as well. There are refrigerators that let you see inside without opening the door. Your refrigerator can let you know that you’re out of milk or that your eggs are about to go bad when you’re at the store.

Dual-temp ovens are a Thanksgiving blessing. These ovens are great for those who love to entertain and cook. We’ve all had it where we need to cook two dishes, but both cook at different temperatures. With a dual-temp oven, you’ll be able to cook both dishes at the same time.

Appliances aren’t the only thing getting smart. Your faucet can detect a hand motion to turn on and off. Other faucets need you to bump it with the back of your hand. Pop-up sockets and charging stations are popular. Pop-up sockets are ideal for kitchen islands. They help provide an extra power source and help use your island’s space. Turn one of your drawers into a charging station for your tablets and phones. This helps make sure that those items are out of the way.

The Wrap-Up

The future of Technicurean kitchens goes hand-and-hand with the future of technology. There’s two possible path it can go. One would be apps. We love our apps. If we have a want or need, there’s an app for that. Expect to see more apps available to help manage your kitchen. The second way would be voice command. With the advent of Alexa, voice command is becoming a viable option. It’s not too farfetched that one day we’ll be able to say, “Hey, refrigerator, what’s my grocery list look like?”
